Interested in Learning More About Catholicism?
Are you or someone you know curious about the Catholic faith or considering becoming Catholic? We would love to walk this journey with you!
At Resurrection Catholic Church, we offer the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)—a welcoming and supportive process designed to help adults explore the Catholic faith.
Who is OCIA for?
· Never been baptized? Begin your journey as a Catechumen.
· Baptized in another Christian tradition? Join as a Candidate.
· Just want to deepen your understanding? We welcome you, too!
Through OCIA, you’ll learn about the teachings of the Catholic Church while growing in faith alongside others on a similar path.
What is OCIA?
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is a spiritual journey for those seeking a deeper relationship with God and entry into the Catholic Church. Through prayer, study, and reflection, participants grow in faith and, at the appropriate time, receive the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion.
The Four Stages of OCIA
1. Precatechumenate – A time for asking questions and exploring Gospel values. (Rite of Acceptance follows this period.)
2. Catechumenate – A period of deeper formation and growth in faith. (Rite of Election follows this period.)
3. Purification & Enlightenment – A time of reflection during Lent, culminating in the reception of the Sacraments at Easter Vigil.
4. Mystagogy – After Easter, new Catholics continue growing in their faith and fully integrating into the Catholic community.
